Gil Sherman's Convertible Cabin Short Kit
Gil Sherman's Convertible Cabin Short Kit
This Old Timer was published in the February 1943 Air Age magazine. It was a hard plan to find (but it pays to have modeling friends!) It is an unusual "convertible" model. "Convertibles" were models that could fly double-duty. Sometimes they were large models that had a Stick fuselage and a cabin fuselage on one plan. Sometimes the wheels were replaced by floats for Rise Off Water flying. In this case, the wheels could be replaced with skis - these are shown on the plan, but the material is not provided.
I have had this 22" span plan and parts ready to go for nearly five years, but the prototype was never built. Winn Moore built his and flew it (finally) in September 2022. It proved to be a great flying model, much like the King Harry.
This qualifies for the Flying Aces Club events "2-Bit Plus One" and “Old Time Fuselage”.
This SHORT KIT contains a new plan and four sheets of laser cut parts.
ALL VOLARE KITS ARE MADE IN SMALL BATCHES. IF STOCK-ON-HAND IS ZERO, A NEW BATCH WILL BE PRODUCED SOON. SIMPLY ORDER ANYWAY AND WE WILL MAKE THEM.
